White Cliffs after the Wessons.

White Cliffs After the deaths of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Wesson in 1906, their "Cliffs" mansion underwent many changes of ownership. It was a private residence until 1942. After that, it was opened as a private club, then a locally famous restaurant and event facility. In this program Norm Corbin will review its different uses and the cast of characters associated with the "Cliffs" over the years.

The Boston Massacre Trials: Blood in the Snow.

Boston Massacre Denounced as an act of unprovoked violence and villainy, this event is one of the most familiar incidents in American history. With retired Justice of the Massachusetts Superior Court the Honorable Dennis J. Curran, we will revisit this dramatic episode and the resulting trials, the competing narratives that molded public perceptions, and the unheralded courage of one lawyer and a future president - John Adams.

The Rise and Fall of Industry in the Blackstone River Valley.

Slater Mill Why did an Industrial Revolution begin along the Blackstone River? What factors converged to enable farmers, craftspeople, and other laborers to transform quiet villages into industrial giants? During this talk, Park Ranger Allison Horrocks will describe the rise of industry, starting with Slater Mill, located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

Colonial Clothing and US Flag History.

Colonial clothing Les Malecki will discuss men's daily 18th century colonial clothing, with an emphasis on what a Northborough militia man might have been carrying as accoutrements when he marched to Concord on that fateful Wednesday of April 19th, 1775. He will also present a history on how of the US Flag has evolved since the American Revolution.

Timber Frame Construction in Early New England.

Timber framing Tom Kelleher discusses how people in early America built their houses, barns, and sheds long before power tools. This presentation will explore the materials, tools, techniques, traditions, and considerations that went into making a forest into a home.

Travels Through the Heart and Soul of New England: Stories of Struggle, Resilience,and Triumph.

Ted Reinstein Based on his many travels through the region’s six states, Ted Reinstein’s new book tells the moving and colorful stories of the most memorable people he’s met in nearly thirty years of reporting, as well as some of his favorite diners. Come hear Ted in person.

The Famous Coach Sherman, an Algonquin Graduate.

Coach Sherman Mike Sherman was an Algonquin football player graduating in the class of 1973. His illustrious career includes being inducted into the Algonquin Athletics Hall of Fame, followed by coaching that included High School, College, the Canadian Football League. and the National Football League. The coach will talk about his storied career. (Location TBD. Please check back here nearer the date.)
